“The stay was okay, the best thing about the hotel, was the view.”
The room offered a stunning view of Sliema harbour/Bay and Valletta, but otherwise nothing special. The roof pool was nice for a quick dip each day if time allowed, and it was close to several restaurants and right across from the bay, most within a 10‑minute walk, which was very convenient. The “hot” breakfast was cold, the shower didn’t suit anyone over 5 foot 5, water pressure was lacking, the room itself felt small for the price, and the balcony was smaller than expected with only one chair, so if two people were there only one could sit at a time.
The location was good and a great starting point for day trips, but the hotel fell short of 4‑star standards and felt more like a 3‑star average. The equipment was old, rooms were poorly ventilated—either a window to the vestibule from which, starting at 6 am, you could hear people preparing breakfast, or a window to the courtyard where another hotel was just two metres away. The toilet leaked, the sink drain leaked, water was never cold, only lukewarm at best. Even though the reception said the pool closed at 23:00 (there was no posted opening time), the bartender kicked us out at 19:30, claiming it was closing. I would not choose this hotel again.
It was very close to the harbor for the ferry to Valletta, but the beds were old and the old air‑conditioning didn’t perform properly during the day.
I booked a seaview room that wasn’t clean, the AC made a lot of noise and didn’t work, I couldn’t sleep, the mattress and pillow were very uncomfortable, and it wasn’t worth my money at all.
“loved the hotel, a bit disappointed that the majority of the staff WERE NOT Maltese, which was sad.”
The room was exactly what I wanted, and I was disappointed that most of the staff weren’t Maltese, but Charlie in the bar was, and he was great, as was the chief William; they were brilliant and extremely helpful. I had no issues with any of the staff—they were all very helpful. The only thing was the balcony door was very stiff, but everything else was good; I just wish there were more local, i.e. Maltese, staff.
