Staying in a restored winery inside a family vineyard and compound on the edge of a charming little village in the Douro Valley mountains was truly magical. We were welcomed with a glass of wine and stories from a family member, and the dinner and breakfast were wonderful. The cost, especially for extras like dinner, port, and cocktails, seemed high but might be normal for this type of boutique experience. Getting there was difficult because GPS didn’t work well on the old village streets, but a phone call to the hotel resolved the issue.

The room faced the vineyards and the view was stunning; it was spacious, beautifully furnished, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed chatting with Maria about her family’s vineyard and the inn. The town is close to Pinhão but away from the crowds, and we really liked walking the quaint streets. Onsite parking was provided inside their wall/gate, and the breakfast was excellent. We also had dinner at the inn, which was delicious, and we would love to stay again.
