“Hands down best choice for accommodation in Kathu!!”

Cornerstone manager Lee‑Anne was extremely helpful, engaging and gracious; my colleague and I had tried a couple other hotels in Kathu and were at Plato having their amazing coffee when we asked Lee‑Anne if we could see any of their rooms and she very kindly obliged. Without question we booked in for as many weekends as possible for the duration of our work assignment in the Northern Cape. The rooms were clean, comfortable and modern, and the two restaurants, ‘The Deck’ and ‘Katexas’, were just a 5‑minute walk from the hotel and offered breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also an amazing gym nearby, The Fitness Factory, for casual drop‑ins. Thanks Lee‑Anne and team, see you next time in Kathu!

“Served its purpose as a clean and safe motel stop”

There was a nice fire at Plato and good night security. It’s a decent motel, accessible, with nice TV and a good selection of sports channels. It seems new (?), but the roof at reception leaks. The fridge (?) leaked and soaked part of the carpet in the room. The shower door didn’t close properly. The security guard (?) was on a loud and long phone call in the carpark at midnight.

“We expected a bit more for the price.”

The room was clean and functional with a great bed and bedding, a large spacious fridge, and self‑catering options. Parking was ample, and a security guard was on duty. Outside, there were tables and chairs with a smoking area, a personal patio, and the grounds were neat. However, when we arrived there was no reception, and we weren’t told where to find the keys or how to check in. The coffee shop staff helped us, but loud music from 6‑7 pm while they were busy cleaning made it noisy, and I couldn’t adjust the TV volume to drown it out. There was no space to put bath soaps or other items in the bathtub; a small trolley or table near the bath would have been useful. Our room lacked a closet for clothes, and the only hanging space was in the bathroom, which wasn’t suitable for longer items. The room didn’t feel inviting or homely as we had expected. At the coffee shop, there’s no ramp for prams or wheelchairs.
