The food service and location were very good, staff friendly and welcoming, room facilities excellent, the room spacious with a great ocean view; however, the bed was too soft so I didn’t sleep well, though the evening meal was superb and I managed to rest listening to the waves; breakfast was equally delicious, and the bathroom toiletries had a beautiful fragrance. The soft bed prevented me from sleeping.

I was upgraded to a sea front room, but when we booked two extra nights we had to switch rooms on the last night. The new room’s luggage hadn’t been moved, so we had to escort the porter, and the original room wasn’t ready for occupancy until 6.00pm. When I questioned this, the receptionist said it had been cancelled late in the evening, which made me wonder why we were forced to move at all.

The decor was beautiful, very peaceful and relaxing, with lovely table linen and gorgeous crockery. I loved the colors and design of the dining room—very Laura Ashley—and the front bedroom was lovely. The staff were brilliant, kind, and helpful, and I’m glad there was no “high guys enjoy in your face” attitude that’s so common elsewhere. On the downside, I’m relieved we could change from the back room we’d booked to one in the front because the first room had cooking smells.
