It was a different, characterful, relaxed, comfortable, old English gentry home full of history. I loved the homsety bar and breakfast served wherever you like – within reason. Nothing.

The Rookery, in London's Clerkenwell area, offers charming rooms with elegant period furnishings and free WiFi. This small hotel, near Farringdon Railway Station and Barbican Tube Station, features antique furniture, air-conditioned rooms, and luxury en-suite bathrooms. Breakfast is served in a conservatory or in-room, with room service and local restaurants available. Original 18th-century features and an oak-panelled lounge complete the experience.

The charm was there.

The location was very good, but a more considerate guest would have avoided waking me up at 4am with shouting.

I needed a one‑night stay near the Elizabeth Line for Heathrow, yet wanted character and comfort, and The Rookery delivered. The old building felt charming, the room and bed were very comfortable, and the location was ideal with plenty of nearby dining options. I would have liked a shower instead of a bath, but I should have mentioned that when booking.
