“Auberge de jeunesse luxueuse”
The hotel really looks like the photos show, and it’s nice to stay in a women‑only hostel. The staff are very friendly. No complaints.

I can’t decide if this is the best or the second‑best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The space is generous, the atmosphere is quiet, and the antique Chinese décor, marble floors, and wooden doors are stunning. Two comfortable lounges let you relax, chat, or even do makeup. The metro stop is right across the street, so you’re not far from the city centre—just a 45‑minute walk by metro.

The location is great and staying here felt like being in a palace. The bathroom and room were clean, and the front‑desk staff were friendly and helpful. I’d stay again, especially because it’s so convenient next to the train lines. I loved it! The only downside was the noise from other girls in the room—people came and went all night, waking me at 11 pm, 1 am, and 5 am. Even with earplugs, the door beeps and the chatter made it hard to sleep. Still, I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai—just bring good earplugs.

They let people smoke in the rooms, even though it’s illegal in China. The girls were smoking in a shared room and the staff did nothing about it. The place was filthy – bathrooms smelled like cigarette smoke, laundry machines smelled like mold, and the cameras were ignored. Avoid if you can’t stand the smell or the lack of action.
