“Authentic midrange hotel for a quick stopover”
The hotel sits in a convenient spot, stays spotless, beds are comfortable, and the onsen is pleasant. Dinner was included and offered a wide selection of Japanese dishes, served in a cafeteria‑style room with guests in yukatas after their baths. While it wasn’t the most sophisticated place, it was enjoyable and genuinely authentic, with about 99.9% of the guests being Japanese. A few staff members could speak English, which is not always the case outside major cities. The food, however, didn’t match the quality of other hotels we visited during the trip, so the value felt lower; we could have found better meals at the same price elsewhere, in nicer settings, and with fresher, more inventive dishes. The communal areas felt a bit municipal, and the dining schedule was strict: we were told upon arrival at 5.40 pm that dinner would be at 6.20 pm and breakfast at 7.15 am, which seemed a bit inflexible.
