How guests rate the property, aspect by aspect.
Because it was a weekday stay, the hot spring was free of other guests and felt like it was rented out, so I could relax. Breakfast was generous and tasty, leaving me very satisfied. The sunset over Lake Goshogawara was beautiful, giving me a slow, enjoyable time. I wish each room had a toilet, even though there appear to be some with toilets.

The setting was very rustic in a rural lakeside area. The indoor bath was tiny, but the outdoor pool had the right temperature. The Japanese breakfasts were fantastic, featuring many small dishes, a variety of sashimi, and tempura. We also enjoyed one private dinner, served traditionally with various fish, and ate for an hour. The staff drove us to the Shinkansen station in the nearby village. The Japanese‑style beds were very comfortable, but at 75 years old it was difficult to get up at night to use the shared bathroom down the hall.

The cleaning was meticulous, with flowers placed here and there, the option to choose a yukata, and other touches that really appealed to women, plus the receptionist was very pleasant. However, the four of us were high‑school classmates, all 72 years old, and having to climb the stairs up to the third floor was tough for some.
