The property sits beautifully among Alpine meadows, about a 20‑minute walk from Ruhpolding centre. Our spacious room faced the mountains, had a comfy bed, a clean bathroom, a TV and a kettle, while a fridge was available in the shared area. There was plenty of parking right by the house. A big plus was the free tourist card (Chiemgau Karte) that gave us complimentary access to many attractions, including three cable cars, a free train to Traunstein and local buses.

The view over the alpine meadows to Rauschberg and Unternberg was stunning, with grazing calves and a peaceful atmosphere. The location was still easily reachable, and the morning bread service added a touch of luxury.

We spent a wonderful family break at the Maiergschwendter Hof. Both vacation apartments and the double room were spotless and thoughtfully prepared. The newly renovated apartments were especially impressive—tasteful, high‑quality, and well‑designed. Hospitality and attention to detail were evident everywhere. The host family was warm and offered great activity suggestions, making us feel at home immediately. The estate is idyllic and quiet, an ideal base for many excursions. We’ll return—three nights were definitely too short.

I recently stayed at a charming, family-run hotel that's a bit off the beaten path from Ruhpolding, but it's situated right next to a small ski slope and just a 30-minute walk from the town center. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the hotel itself was beautifully decorated and felt like home. However, one thing that would've made our stay even better was the addition of a microwave, as there's no oven available.
