“Tranquil historic house in the Galician countryside”
Casa Brandariz looks stunning—a charming historic house beside an old church deep in the Galician countryside. The surrounding area is beautiful and close to Santiago de Compostela, Lugo, and other major attractions in Galicia. The building itself is lovely, and we were delighted by the nesting swallows in the eaves at the entrance and the swooping bats in the evenings. The room was spacious and comfortable for a week’s stay, with a good‑sized bathroom and lovely views of the church from the window. The staff were very kind and incredibly helpful; they slightly saved our trip by advising us on a great spot to watch the total solar eclipse, so we didn’t miss it! The restaurant was fabulous too, and we enjoyed a few delicious evening meals. I would gladly return!
“Para no repetir”
The place looks nice, though it sits right next to a cemetery. The shower was a nightmare for my wife – we couldn’t hang the showerhead because the water would spray onto the ceiling, not because it was broken. Mosquitoes were everywhere, and the breakfast was a mess: we were told to come at 8:40 after the pilgrims left, but everything was already ruined. Even if it were cheap, it isn’t worth the price. One star and that’s all.
“Correcto pero muy lejos si haces el camino”
The hotel has charm but is far away. If you’re walking the Camino, the location is inconvenient; although they provide a taxi service, the hotel is 10 km from Arzúa and the taxi times don’t match the start times of the walk.
“Estancia agradable y confortable”
I was very satisfied.
“Gente entrañable, cariñosa y profesional”
The breakfast didn’t offer many options, but everything that was served was of good quality.
