“Very nice place”
The owners were incredibly friendly and attentive, the rooms and bathrooms were amazing—nothing I’d ever seen before—and the breakfast was perfect; I’d recommend it without hesitation.
“Didn’t expect such disappointment”
We had high expectations because of the stellar reviews, yet our stay was the complete opposite. The only bright spot was the swimming pool, which we had to ourselves since no one else was there. The room and bathroom had not been cleaned before we arrived: dirty stains on both sinks, in the shower, on the tiles and toilet, rubbish in the bathroom bin, dust in the bedroom, and dirty floors—unacceptable. The Livingstone room had only two small windows and stayed above 27 °C overnight even after opening them, so it was very uncomfortable to sleep. Breakfast and the optional table d’hôtes dinner were served in the entrance hall, which also had no air conditioning; the owners kept doors and windows shut to keep flies out, making the dining area warm and stuffy in summer. We had booked the table d’hôtes dinner; the cheese course was pleasant, but the main course was bland, poorly presented, and lacked flavour (see picture). The bread was dry, and overall the meal didn’t match the standard suggested by the property or its price. After dinner we skipped breakfast entirely. We’ve never been so disappointed by a place to stay and can’t understand how our experience differed so dramatically from the many outstanding reviews. Overall, the comfort, dining experience, and level of service did not match either the outstanding reviews or the approximate €200 per night rate. Cleanliness is a basic expectation at any price point, but considering the overall experience—including the accommodation and meals—we felt the property was significantly overpriced; a rate closer to €70–85 per night would have seemed more appropriate.
