“もう一泊して、宿を堪能したかった”
The facilities, hospitality, and baths were very good. Cleanliness and the rooms were also fine. The disappointing part was the food, especially dinner, which felt like it didn’t deliver that “wow” taste.

Getting there by shinkansen from Tokyo is very easy, and the hotel offers a beautiful setting; the reception hall alone sets the tone with a small water feature on each side. The décor is refined, and the meal is just as impressive. The public bath with a view of the green mountains and the stream below is truly wonderful. We had a lot of fun doing the stamp rally around the hotel and seeing our luck with an omikuji at the Momo shrine (Japanese for peach) inside the ryokan. Karaoke and a manga library (in Japanese) are perfect for relaxing after the bath. The rooms are impeccably clean. The real difference is the sense of hospitality, the welcome, and the kindness of the staff. Even the owner is extremely kind, and we felt honored that they served as a guide within the ryokan. Japanese hospitality is renowned, but here it feels even better than in other places I’ve stayed. We felt treated like ambassadors! The Japanese expression “customers are gods” takes full meaning here. Words cannot fully capture how helpful and kind everyone was. A must‑do Japanese bath and hospitality experience.

I was pleased when the courier left a spare box for me, and because the room was empty they upgraded me to a higher grade. The breakfast had a homemade feel, especially the French toast. The only downside was that the bed wasn’t a true bed.

The shared onsen was fantastic, the staff were wonderful, the buffet offered delicious variety, and the terrace with a private onsen was superb.
