The location is unbeatable, right in the old town and close to the train station and the docks. The rooftop terrace offers a fantastic view. The room was solid, with a small balcony overlooking the Aare and the Upper Lock, and the shower was amazing. However, we asked for a river‑view room to avoid the noise from the Upper Lock at night, which made sleeping with the window open impossible. Sunday’s breakfast buffet was chaotic; items like glasses and cutlery were constantly missing, perhaps due to a kitchen mishap. The staff seemed overwhelmed and stressed. Despite that, we liked the restaurant and the food selection.
