The old house was a hit. The tatami allowed me to relax and lounge. Being inside the Fukumi village made early‑morning walks enjoyable. Cats from the neighborhood came to play in the garden and were adorable. That’s why, when having a BBQ, it’s important to check carefully that food hasn’t fallen. The only issue was that the bedroom had a damp, musty smell, so a dehumidifier would have helped. The pot and the water‑drain rack were so dirty that I couldn’t use them, even after washing; they were just too filthy.

Staying in an Okinawan old house gave me the feeling of living there locally. In the morning I walked along the fukugi grove, then headed to the sea, and it was truly a wonderful moment. I really wanted to live there! The house had plenty of insect‑repellent spray, mosquito coils, etc., so I didn’t need to bring my own, which was a big help. I didn’t see any bugs inside during my stay. The hotel also supplied towels, face towels, toothbrushes, and other amenities for everyone, which made the stay very comfortable. The washing machine and gas dryer were also appreciated, and all the detergents and drying tools were provided. The only problem was that, upon arrival, a swarm of mosquitoes came in with me, which was surprising. Also, there seemed to be sand in the washing machine, and I washed clothes without checking, so they got sand on them.

I enjoyed the unique Okinawan old‑house feel and the proximity to the sea; the morning walk was very pleasant and refreshing. The house was tucked behind a back house, so it was hard to locate where the main house was and I had to search. The toilet door was poorly constructed. The bathroom light was a bit dim.

The house felt incredibly calming with authentic Okinawan vibes, and the restoration work was amazing; the kitchen, bathroom, washer & dryer, and powerful AC were all great, plus the location is unbeatable. I’m tall and bumped my head a few times, but that’s part of the experience and I wouldn’t change it.
