Staying in a tiny village on the edge of nature gave us stunning mountain, corn‑field and rice‑paddy views. The room was charmingly decorated and spotlessly clean, and the meals—both dinner and breakfast—were made from the garden or the neighbour’s garden. The real highlight was Trang, the owner, whose kindness and energy made us feel like family; she’s also a specialist in vegetarian and vegan dishes and can delight anyone, even non‑meat‑eaters. Highly recommended! Just note that the final few metres to the house must be walked, as cars can’t get that close, but Trang will gladly fetch your luggage on her scooter.

Trang, the host, is very warm and makes you feel right at home immediately. I was even invited to a Vietnamese birthday celebration. The rooms are simple but nicely furnished. The vegetarian food and coffee taste superb. The accommodation has a great location with views of the mountains and the village.

I can’t stop praising this traditional house that’s been expanded; I even extended my stay because I didn’t want to leave and later booked another leg after returning from Dong Van. Trang, a very dynamic young woman, is involved in village life and always ready to help, while Phi, the friendly cook, introduced me to wonderfully served local dishes (watch out for the line!). The lovely rooms sit in the traditional wing, and the homestay perched on a small hill is breezy, offering from the balcony and terrace a spectacular view of Tha village and the “dinosaur teeth” karst peaks. Van, Phi’s husband, is a careful driver who guided me on a motorbike loop for a day, a memory I cherish. A waterfall lies 3.5 km away, reachable on foot through forest or a tiny road—perfect for a cool dip. ATM machines are in Ha Giang, 5.5 km away (I walked there!). The only thing I didn’t like was having to leave!
