“Wundervolle Unterkunft”

My wife and I chose Batu Katak for our North Sumatra trek, and it turned out to be the best decision of our entire stay. The family‑run inn offers a direct view of the rushing river, where you can cool off from the accommodation. A beautiful view is guaranteed at breakfast, lunch, or the evening gatherings with the hosts. The hospitality of the operators is especially noteworthy; it’s rare to feel so welcomed as at Hidden Corner. The food is lovingly prepared and nothing is missing. Rudi, the National Park guide from the inn, leads trekking tours with his team, letting you decide how many days in the forest. We chose a 2‑day tour, seeing a good portion of the rainforest with more impressions than we can count. With our two guides we always felt safe and had the time of our lives. They tailor the experience to each participant’s fitness, offering the best possible adventure. They try to meet every wish, so we even ended up exploring a cave that wasn’t originally planned. The guides surprised us, and during the tour the multiple meals were exquisitely presented and tasted fantastic. The camp experience where we stayed was wonderful. We had great company and ate and slept superbly. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

“beautiful escape in the jungle”

It was an incredible stay in a true “hidden corner.” Surrounded by beautiful nature, the room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. All the staff were kind and eager to help, and the food was delicious. Thanks so much for everything 🫶🏻

The guesthouse sits in a beautiful spot with a direct view of the river, where you can even swim; the restaurant feels cozy and we ate there every day, enjoying tasty food and juices—everything was great. In the evenings we made music together. After missing the gibbons on “Dschungeltag” (the awesome trip to the giant flower, through a 1 km cave and back with tubing), we booked a three‑hour private tour with Rudi the next day, which was definitely worth it. Rudi is a super friendly host and guide, and Hidden Corner is an absolute hidden gem—an excellent addition to Bukit Lawang with less hustle. A wardrobe or sideboard for storage would still be nice.

“Little corner of paradise”

Hidden Corner offered an incredible experience. The location is stunning, rooms are clean, food is great, and the staff are super helpful. Ruddy was easy to talk to, led us on an amazing jungle trek, and did everything to keep us comfortable. The site feels like its own little paradise. A little shelf or side table in the rooms would be nice.

“Paradise for a relaxing stay”

The spot is pure paradise! The rooms are gorgeous—new room for one night and bungalow for three nights—spotlessly clean with the best mattresses of my trip, so I slept like a log. The staff treat you like family and the food is amazing. I came to unwind and that’s exactly what I did. I’d book here again without hesitation. Everything was flawless, nothing to change.
