Hotel Aivani Old Tbilisi

Everything liked: location, atmosphere, interior, staff. The spot sits in the heart of old Tbilisi yet is very transport‑accessible, and you can even walk from Rustaveli Avenue. There’s a shared balcony on the third floor overlooking the river and an old church on the opposite bank. The bathroom had a slight sewer smell, but it was not critical if you close the door at night. During the day there was no odor. The shower cabin was convenient, nothing leaked onto the floor, and the water pressure was good. The room was cleaned daily and fresh water bottles were replaced. It was very quiet at night, even though the location is in a tourist centre.

Close enough to the airport for convenience, yet within walking distance of the city centre, so you can easily explore. The check‑in staff were very welcoming. I arrived late and exhausted, but they were cheerful and friendly. (To be fair, I only stayed one night, so my review is based on very limited experience.) Morning staff had very limited knowledge of the neighbourhood. I’m sure this hotel welcomes plenty of tourists, and I can’t imagine I’m the first to ask, “Where can I mail a postcard?” The only answers I got were repeated “I don’t know” and “I can’t help you.” I tried looking it up myself, but I still couldn’t figure it out, which is why I asked the staff for help in the first place. I’m still upset by the way she responded. Even if she didn’t know where the nearest post office or mailbox was, she could at least have told me how she usually sends mail here or suggested an alternative, so I could figure out the next step myself. I wasn’t expecting her to know everything, but I did expect a little more willingness to help.
