The traditional experience, the staff and the onsen. Sleeping on the futon is hard if you stay more than one night.

A classic Japanese room with a futon, very simple. Pretty, the futon is fairly comfortable and clean. Staff are helpful. I really liked the pool with the hot springs for washing, which is on the basement floor. It was nice to stay there because it lets you feel the real essence of a Japanese stay. The location is a bit inconvenient for visiting Kyoto’s main sights; I’d rather take a room closer to the Gion area next time. The bathroom with the toilet had a chemical smell like a public restroom, which was unpleasant. Daily housekeeping isn’t done, only a towel change; for a three‑star hotel I would have expected that extra touch.

I thought the price was fair, but the place felt a little worn out and could use a refresh.

The spot was great, just a block from the train station and a temple, and close to FamilyMart, 7‑Eleven, and a Yamato luggage drop‑off, which mattered a lot for us. The staff were helpful, even after a booking mix‑up they let us in a day early. The hotel was clean and they handed us traditional robes in the right size.
