The views were lovely and the owners were very friendly and helpful; the remote spot made it peaceful and quiet at night, and it connected to a great walking route. The apartment had all the gear we needed and the WiFi worked well. The pool was lovely, with plenty of sunbeds so we always had a spot to sit. On Friday a local vineyard came to the poolside for an organised wine tasting, letting us sample wines at a great price without having to drive home. We used the place as a base to explore Tuscany, visiting Siena, San Gimignano, Greve in Chianti, and a few other spots. We should buy groceries for the apartment in a nearby town—COOP in Castelfiorentino was great. Like everywhere in Tuscany, especially the countryside, there are mosquitoes, so bring spray and bite cream just to be safe. The last drive up is rocky, but just go slowly and it’s fine.
