“Perfect Peaceful Getaway”

It was so peaceful with stunning views, truly out of the way and perfect for stargazing; the place was very clean and tidy, the beds were comfortable, the hot tub was great, and the robes and slippers were lovely touches, but some decking boards were loose/sagging and a bit of a hazard; once you knew where to walk, it was fine.

I was disappointed by the lack of cleanliness in the bedroom; the toilet didn’t flush at all, only the sound of running water could be heard, and they suggested putting a pan of water down if I wanted to use it. I was also told to keep the heating low to save on electricity, which was odd. The hot tub was cold, so I couldn’t use it on the first night and ended up leaving early.

The lodge was quiet and on a small site. We stayed in the end lodge, so it wasn’t overlooked from the hot tub, and the kids’ park next to us was perfect. The lodge itself was basic and a little dated, but it was great for our family group; we also rented the next‑door lodge because we were a large family. There was plenty of space, two bathrooms were ideal, the beds were perfect, and the social area in the kitchen/dining/living space was great. The hot tub was cleaned daily, and the young lad who worked there was cheerful and pleasant. I can’t find any faults. The WiFi was surprisingly good for such a rural spot. A car is essential because you can’t really walk anywhere, but the site is perfect for relaxing on a self‑catering basis. We’d stay in this end lodge again. Very happy.
