“A honest review.”
The food cooked by chef Ronald was truly amazing and the highlight of my week. Emily’s service was nothing short of spectacular, and our guide was extremely knowledgeable and always eager to help with any questions. On the downside, the lodge’s privacy means you share the space with other guests, and some can be surprisingly obnoxious and rude. The intimacy that makes it special can backfire if you’re with the wrong crowd. I also wish we had received more directions for the drive up to the lodge. The final stretch to the top is tough, especially without a 4x4 or a sedan with 4‑wheel drive, and it gets even harder in the rain, with wild animals nearby. If you’re planning a visit, avoid driving in the rain after dark, arrive early, and be ready for how close the lodge is to other guests. There are no free‑roaming big cats on site; you’ll see them at the nearby sanctuary, which is great but not the same as spotting them outside a fence. This isn’t a negative review of the lodge itself, just context I wish I’d known beforehand to manage expectations.
