“Gute unkomplizierte Übernachtung im Herzen von Spandau !”
The staff were helpful and the breakfast had fresh scrambled eggs. The carpet in the room was quite old and hard to judge hygienically, but at least there are slippers.

The location is good, the room had only the essentials, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The reception closes at 8 pm, yet the person at the desk waited for me even though I arrived an hour and a half later—thanks for that. I don’t want to be too harsh on the owner, it costs a lot to keep a hotel in good shape, but the wallpaper in my room had already peeled off. The bathroom, which is clearly old, smelled like cigarette smoke; whoever smoked there must have forgotten to ventilate. I couldn’t find a typical exhaust system for an interior bathroom, and the bath mat was missing. In the evening the power went out in my room and others on the floor; I found the emergency number outside the front door. The person on the other end of the line was kind and promised to arrive in 20 minutes after asking if I’d used the kettle. I hadn’t, but maybe someone else on the floor did, causing the breaker to trip. The power returned after 30 minutes. Thanks for that. After that minor inconvenience, I looked forward to a quick TV session, only to click through all 200 channels (the remote had two buttons: volume and channel forward/backward). Most shows left the screen black; there was no ARD or ZDF. Oh well, it’s probably healthier to fall asleep without the flicker first.
