Walking out onto the main square of the idyllic town, you can turn right and take a few steps toward the old Roman Baths area, or turn left to stroll to the ancient ruins where the hot springs flow; the property also serves a beautifully fresh breakfast every morning in true Italian style, though there wasn’t much else to note.

The place is well situated, but there’s no elevator and nobody helped with the heavy luggage; we were told there was only one stair, yet we had to haul more than 10 heavy bags up the stairs to the first floor.

The atmosphere was evocative and the room was super comfortable.

The spot is quiet and steeped in history, but the requirement to check in at Hôtel des Termes wasn’t mentioned beforehand, making the arrival a hassle.
