The air conditioner couldn’t be set to heat, so I spent a freezing night in a room that was isolated from the outside by a simple glass door. The bathroom tiles are from the 1930s and the shower stall is full of mold. Phone support was nonexistent, only SMS was available. The owner’s bad faith was obvious.

The convenience of nearby amenities and the charm of Saint‑Aignan make it a lovely small town; I recommend the Bigoudène creperie, and the view of the abandoned castle is beautiful. The room’s window faces the entrance, so the light stays on and I had to shut the room doors. Bathroom cleaning was lacking—tub soap on the sink tiles, hair in the shower, and the tiles weren’t cleaned. There was no storage in the room; a mug was provided but no sponge or cleaning products. Guests staying below caused a mess until 2 a.m., as if they were alone in the building. It’s not really a castle house.

The location is very quiet and the price is fair. The round table is unusable as it stands; you can’t put liquids on it because the tray isn’t stable.
