Everything was clean, comfortable, and homely, and the staff were lovely. The location was ideal, so I can’t think of anything better!

I appreciated how clean and new the place looked, and the view from my room’s window was beautiful in winter. The dining room felt cozy and inviting, perfect for hanging out with friends, and everything seemed well organized. The location was a short walk to the ski area. I liked the shower booths with curtains, offering more privacy than other ryokans with shared bathrooms I’ve stayed at. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. On the first night, the walls between rooms were a little thin and I could hear loud neighbours in the room next door, but the rest of the nights were quiet and peaceful. As an Asian, I preferred more hearty or Japanese meals for breakfast, but I still enjoyed the thick toast that was available.

Nona is a lovely lodge in Madarao with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and is within walking distance of the slopes. The place is run by a Japanese‑Australian family, and we even met the owners from Australia. The staff are exceptionally kind, helpful, and genuinely caring. The rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is simple but very good, and each morning something different is offered. The ski‑gear drying room is extremely convenient after a day on the slopes. I highly recommend it for a relaxed ski stay. There is nothing else to mention.

The vibe was friendly. The toilet and basin lights could use sensors so they aren’t bright all night, and guests should be reminded of quiet times in bedroom areas.
