“It was so comfortable and the staff were lovely, had the best sleep ever will definitely be going back”
It is situated in outstanding countryside and an old building which we loved. Nothing.

The spot was great, but the building felt worn out and some areas were dirty. The bedroom had a bare electrical fitting, a plug socket hanging off the wall, and there was no sign that the bedside lamp (very old) had been tested. The kettle and TV were also lacking. Dinner options were very limited, stuck in the '70s style.

The location was decent and the staff were friendly, which were the only bright spots. I expected a quiet romantic getaway with a nice meal, but the website didn't mention the nearby camping. Camper vans were parked just yards from the hotel. The menu had only five items, no starters or desserts, and the food quality was poor. I didn't anticipate live music in the bar until after midnight, with people drinking until 3 am. The bed felt broken on one side and was uncomfortable. Breakfast offered the cheapest sausages possible; the rest wasn't great either, and I had to make my own drinks from an urn. I skipped breakfast the second morning to check out quickly. The carpet and bathroom floor weren't clean. Over two nights, no one entered the room to take out dirty glasses or change towels, so I had to use wet ones the next morning. I had to convince my wife to stay the second night because she wanted to leave after the first.

This country manor house sits in the middle of peaceful, beautiful countryside. Every Saturday night, a live band plays, thanks to the owners' music industry connections—always a bonus, so book early. The staff were absolutely great, generous with their time, and genuinely wanted you to have a comfortable stay. The only downside: I only stayed one night.

The old‑world charm was lovely. Nothing else really stood out.
