Hotel Zagakukan

We absolutely loved staying at Zagakukan. It has a warm, relaxing vibe and sits just a 5‑minute walk from Hakone‑Yumoto Station, with a 7‑Eleven a few minutes away. From the moment you step onto the floor, the hotel feels like a spa, with a pleasant scent in the hallway, soothing music in the room, a wonderful bath and shower, and thoughtful touches such as robes, towels, toiletries, and traditional slippers. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable, and everything was impeccably clean. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and happy to answer questions or give recommendations. We truly enjoyed our stay and would be thrilled to return.

The hot bath on the rooftop is comfortable and private, and the location is excellent and convenient. However, the bath wasn’t very clean, the corridors are dark, the room rate is too high without any meal options, and the breakfast, which cost 2200 Yen, was pathetic for its price.

The private onsen was nice, but it felt prison‑like because you couldn’t see the beautiful scenery—the walls were so high. No windows was a definite no‑go for us, as it felt very claustrophobic. The place is so dark and feels like a dungeon.

“Medianamente agradável”

The room was very good. The common areas are minimal. Breakfast is served with frozen bread that guests must heat in an oven, along with disposable cutlery and paper cups. It felt like a campsite for an exorbitant price.
