The Japanese décor felt genuinely authentic, and the whole hotel is shoe‑free with tatami mats everywhere, which made the experience special. However, the décor overall, like the whole Shirahama area, feels dated, and my room had several defects: a noticeable opening in the raised futon area letting light in, a stained and dirty sink around the drain, fingerprints on the window, a strong urine smell in the toilet, and peeling wallpaper in a few spots, giving the room a somewhat unkempt vibe. Vegetarians and vegans have to leave the hotel for all meals from breakfast to dinner.
