The moment I got there, a couple of guys who looked a bit off greeted me while they were fiddling with the front‑door code – they seemed close to cracking it. The room itself was fine, but I was surprised to find a two‑centimetre layer of grime under the bed.

Staying here was great for the location – right in the middle of Northbridge, a comfy king‑size bed, a decent balcony and a strong‑pressured shower, plus the self‑check‑in was a breeze and the street was quiet. The bathroom, however, could have used a deeper clean – the mirror, shower floor, handles and head were all a bit grimy, and there was no hand soap or tea bags left for us, even though we were asked to clean our own cups.
