A room with a balcony overlooking the valley and mountains was lovely, and the staff were very attentive. There were no stairs to climb, but the manager happily carried bags for anyone who didn’t like stairs.

I would definitely suggest Casia Roby to anyone heading to San Cassiano. It’s a tiny “hotel” just a short walk from the town center and it had every essential we needed while we got ready for a five‑day trek through the Dolomites. The host greeted us warmly and the room was ready right on schedule. He also shared tips on the free summer bus service and invited us to the evening appertivo for guests, where we were treated to an impressive spread of hors d’oeuvres, hugos, and other drinks—a pleasant surprise. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, and the dinner options for guests were well‑made and tasty. “Team Roby” is a genuinely friendly group who seem to care sincerely about their guests. For English speakers you might need to ask for the dinner menus to be translated from German or Italian; most staff speak English, though for many it’s a third or fourth language given the prevalence of Ladin in the valley. Still, we never had any trouble communicating. There was nothing off or that could have been better.

The location was excellent and the breakfast was superb. Unfortunately, due to a medical issue, the lack of an elevator was a problem.
