“A small hitch”
Everything was perfect. The hotel should provide an e‑bike from the main road because it’s very hard for elderly guests to walk the distance.

The staff were very friendly. I could enjoy a slow view of the Ganges.

The location is good. Reaching the property goes through narrow lanes as expected in Kashi. The staff kept good communication and helped us get our luggage to the hotel.

The hotel sits in an old palace on the Ganges bank, though it feels more like a historic home than a real palace. The spot is still great: it’s right on the ghats, so walking to the city’s attractions is easy. The welcome was friendly, the room is simple but decent, and the meals are good. Thanks also to Shiva for kindly helping us carry our luggage when we left. Overall, the location is a real asset and staying on the ghats is unique. However, the price felt high for the services. Access to the hotel is not simple. You can’t drive straight to it and must use their transport because the hotel is at the end of several small alleys off the main road. You also can’t pull your suitcase in; you have to carry it a certain distance through narrow, sometimes crowded alleys. We were also surprised to be disturbed twice in our room: once early in the morning, supposedly for cleaning but mainly to check if we were having breakfast; a second time in the evening to invite us to dinner while musicians played in the courtyard. That approach seemed odd and annoying. Another negative point is the payment handling: weeks before arrival we were repeatedly contacted via WhatsApp about supposed card problems, even though the card worked fine. In the end we had to pay well in advance through an Indian app. It was the only hotel in our Indian trip that did it this way, which felt unusual. Regarding the so‑called “room with a view,” it’s clear: the view from the room is nonexistent. The window is barred and covered with an opaque plastic tarp. To see the beautiful Ganges view, you must leave the room and go to the terrace or rooftop. The Wi‑Fi was also quite poor and there were many mosquitoes (they even had plenty of chances to feast with us 😉).

The space on the ghat is beautiful and offers an authentic cultural vibe.
