“A truly unique and novel travel experience”
This place offered an unforgettable experience. The Yurt sits on the outskirts of Almaty, easy to reach yet still feels remote. It’s set on a garden that’s been producing fruit and flowers for over fifty years, and the soil here is special—eating its produce feels different from any apples, apricots, plums, or pears you’ve had before. The atmosphere is calm, with mountains in the background and occasional horse neighs, cow moos, or bee buzzes. The Yurt itself is a luxurious, unique experience and a lesson in nomadic culture. The host, Zhanna, is a wise, multilingual 16th‑generation nomad who can share stories of her people’s history from Siberia to Kazakhstan and discuss how Chinese exports affect Kazakh society. She’s a brilliant conversationalist and her hospitality was remarkable. No Novotel or Sheraton could match what you get here. I have no criticisms.
