Free parking behind the hotel was a plus, and the bed felt comfy. However, we discovered there was no hot water at check‑in, which we weren’t warned about, and the cold shower was awful. The twin room was tiny and the carpet was dirty. We only stayed one night, complained about the hot water, and received a partial refund.

The location was perfect, but the hotel looked very run‑down. The room had many issues: dates, peeling paint from the roof, a broken toilet seat, a broken shower head, and a radiator stuck on full blast that was noisy all night. We arrived for breakfast at 9 am, but no one greeted us. We had to ask for a clean bowl because the six available bowls were dirty. We waited about 10 minutes before staff asked what we wanted. Plenty of staff were around, yet none seemed interested. Five other couples were also there for breakfast, each of them had to ask someone if they could get a menu and order food after already waiting 5–10 minutes.

The location is perfect, the bar area is nice, and breakfast was good. Yet I was thoroughly disappointed—this was a 50th birthday stay for my partner, booked because of the location and the attractive photos on the website. The hotel needs some work: paint was peeling in the bathroom and on the walls, the bedroom carpet was dirty, and the overall appearance was grimy. We couldn’t use the shower because it looked grubby, and the carpet in the dining room, stairs, and corridor was also dirty. In a prime location like Bourton, this falls well below standard.
