We had absolutely nothing at all; we were forced to move from the room we booked to a lower‑quality one, and the staff offered no customer service, no refund, or any goodwill—felt like an inconvenience. The room was noisy because the kitchen extractor fans outside our window ran all night; it smelled like chip fat, had no soundproofing, and I expected the people above to leak through the ceiling. None of the electric sockets in the room we booked worked, so we moved again to a poorer room and received no refund for the price difference.

We stopped overnight and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is old and sprawling, so we and other guests struggled to find our way back to the room. Without asking someone, we might have missed the narrow car‑park entrance. We entered from the rear car‑park but had to navigate a confusing path to the front‑entrance reception. Better signage on the ground floor would show where the room numbers are and clearer directions to the car‑park. We also wanted to dine at the hotel, but the 7‑course menu was pre‑booked, so we had to find another restaurant.

I arrived to a clean hotel in a great spot and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was exceptional. However, we had to return to the front desk 3–4 times because the card wouldn’t work on the room door, even after we were told the issue had been fixed late at night. Also, there were a couple of large functions happening that we didn’t know about, and the car park was full, so we had to find alternative parking ourselves.
