“Very enjoyable, lovely quiet location and a characteful cottage thoughtfully furnished and decorated”

Breakfast was generally good, but the porridge was disappointing—quite dry—and the bacon rashers went cold quickly and turned leathery. I usually choose sausage, but only bacon was offered, so I had bacon and scrambled egg, which was nicely cooked. I liked the fruit, yoghurt, and croissant, though a warm croissant (just 2 seconds in the microwave) would have been nice since I prefer butter to preserves. On the first morning I noticed an old coffee stain on the outside of my mug; it was near the bottom so I didn’t ask for a replacement, but I was surprised the staff hadn’t noticed. The bathroom was lovely except the flush handle had to be pushed up instead of the usual downward lever, and the cistern fill was problematic—sometimes it kept filling and the water wouldn’t stay in the tank, running through. A bit of fiddling with the flush stopped it after a while. I reported it when we left, but it had been like that since the day we arrived. Having only one chair was a bit of a bind, but we understood why—bedroom space! We managed.

Great location, fabulous clean rooms, great staff, excellent breakfast, honesty bar, lovely garden, parking. No ice in the machine for my glass of wine 😂
