Gotthard Backpacker

The hostel is very nice, impeccably kept, clean and quiet. The building is characterful and renovated while preserving its historic feel. The kitchen is well equipped and there’s also a small outdoor spot to eat. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. It’s right at the highway exit, which was a great advantage for us as a stop. The room was a bit noisy because of the road, but not annoying. The village is very small but has a supermarket and a small playground with toys for children.

“Preis Leistung in keinem Verhältnis!!”

I paid 120 CHF for a backpacker dormitory shared bathroom, which I think is a lot of money even though everything was very clean, lovingly decorated, and thoughtfully renovated for an old house that still gives off character. The next day I was offered what I suspect was the same room for 225 CHF, so I thought, “pride and greed come before failure!” I’m currently staying in a 4‑star hotel in Val d’Isère for 150 € that has a sauna, pool, and breakfast—it's a bit over my budget and feels a bit underwhelming, but at least the waste is comparatively low.

“Ottimo”

The place was spotless and the host super friendly, which made a big difference. It did cost a lot, but then again Swiss prices are what they are. All in all, a clean stay with nice people, just pricey.

The owner was genuinely attentive and friendly, always there when you needed something. Everything in the rooms was clean and had that nice Alpine feel. Felt like a proper mountain getaway.

Got a great deal here – cheap rates and you can park right at the doorstep. The rooms were tidy and everything seemed in order. Didn't notice any downsides at all.
