The owners were kind and attentive, and the location is close to everything, but having to wash dishes in a sink and the road noise a few metres away, plus the interior heat and metal structure, were drawbacks.

The lodge feels very atmospheric, typical Polynesian, with a perfect location and very friendly staff who made us feel welcome; it was also nice that they let us use the bathroom freely. A tip: send a map of forbidden roads, since Google Maps still shows that dangerous route.

The water was warm and we were greeted with a tasty grapefruit. However, there is no air conditioning, and the tiny dwelling is set 10 m from the street—no quiet at all: roosters crow in the morning, dogs bark and bite at night, and a Saturday‑Sunday disco in the neighbourhood kept going until dawn.

The small terrace is nice, the fruit basket on the first day, the free breakfast on Sunday mornings, and the little services from the owners are appreciated. But there was a lack of conversation with the owners who could have shared more spontaneous island knowledge; there were few exchanges over the week. Cooking in the bungalow was difficult due to missing equipment, and the mattress was not great.
