The atmosphere was calm, the breakfast was very good, but the check‑in times didn’t match what was listed in the booking, so I recommend calling the hotel to double‑check.

Nestled among leafy gardens on Visingsö Island, Wisingsö Hotell occupies charming red houses with private garden‑view terraces, a tennis court, library, and complimentary Wi‑Fi. Bright rooms feature work desks, flat‑screen TVs, and en‑suite bathrooms. Guests enjoy daily buffet breakfast, regional cuisine at Framnäs restaurant’s glass‑enclosed veranda, an on‑site museum, and nearby apple orchard walks; the ferry terminal lies 3 km away.

The service and breakfast were the main highlights.

Breakfast was good, but the fire alarm went off at about 2 am and it was scary.

The island deserves a visit; the hotel breakfast is good; the bed is comfortable; the dining staff are friendly; the lunch food is good and cheap; and the library next to the hotel is always open and welcomes travelers when the hotel lobby is closed. I find it hard to give a bad review, but this time there is an exception. I arrived on 1 September, after the summer tourist season had ended. On the island only bus 126 runs, and from September onward it sometimes misses its schedule. The hotel didn’t tell me about this. When I got to the island, bus 126 didn’t show up at the scheduled time, and because I didn’t have a car I had to walk 3 km from the ferry dock to the hotel with my luggage. If I’d known, I would have arrived earlier or tried to contact the bus company. Most hotels I’ve stayed at provide advance travel information; this one did not. Also, I wasn’t told that the room is only cleaned if I request it. I wasn’t informed of the breakfast time and location either. The worst part was that they didn’t tell me that on weekdays in September there is only one place to eat, the hotel restaurant, and that dinner must be booked in advance. That detail mattered because the next day I went to dinner at the hotel and, since no one had booked, the restaurant was closed. The hotel consists of scattered houses around the building where the reception is located. To reach my room I had to carry my luggage and climb stairs to an upper floor because there is no elevator. The hotel didn’t tell me that either. Luckily my back problems, which prevent me from carrying weight, didn’t cause a flare‑up. My room was more like a Carthusian convent cell than a hotel room of its category. Finally, regarding the price: I booked a room with a commitment to pay 158 € per night, cancelable, 15 m² with breakfast included.
