“Clean and cozy but call ahead to see if amenities are available”

We requested a ground‑floor room and received one that was spotless, well‑stocked, and smelled wonderful. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the blinds instead of curtains made the room completely dark during the day. The staff were friendly and made an effort to keep us happy and comfortable. The location was quiet and lovely, with no nighttime noise. However, we had been looking forward to relaxing in the pool, only to find it closed for maintenance. The weather was cloudy and green, so we couldn’t enjoy it anyway. This was a major reason we chose this hotel. The front‑desk lady offered to let us use the pool at another location across town, but we were denied, which was frustrating, though she did try to help.

“Needs updating. Smells like feces.”

It was in a good location, but the room was old. The bathroom smelled like feces the entire stay; the pipes were old, had mildew, and seemed to be missing a part at the bottom of the toilet, which made us think that was why we smelled feces. We had to keep the bathroom door closed. Also, you could hear someone showering above us; the walls were thin, the pipes were loud, and they woke us up in the morning. The comforter had cigarette burns all over it, which we didn’t notice until midnight when we went to bed. I just felt dirty the whole time we were there. Luckily this was only for one night; if it had been longer we would have gone somewhere else for sure.
