“Did not feel safe”
Reasonably priced and bedsheets and pillows were clean. The owner did not want to tell us how to open the front roller gate, he insisted that we call him everytime we wanted to go out or get in. Only later did we realize on our own that the button was somewhere near the staircase. No idea why we had to feel like hostages, when we already paid upfront. The air "cooler" inside the room that was the substitute for AC was coated so thickly in dust that there would've been no point of adding water to it because it would stop blowing air altogether. The "private bathroom" is actually just a regular bathroom that is shared by all the guests in the house. The door to the bathroom is also facing the entrance of the house and living room, hope you have a big towel to cover up. The hairdryer in the pictures, hung inside the room, cannot actually be used inside the room. We were warned that using it in the room would flip the trip switch, so we had to use it in the living room. While the room is not listed as an AC room, there is a broken AC unit on the ceiling, which should really be covered up. The windows have no netting installed, and bugs quickly fill the room, there was a dead spider by the bedside. The so called private kitchen was in fact shared with "workers" for whom we would have to leave the kitchen door unbolted so that they could access it in the night. Why would non-guests want to access the "private kitchen" you ask? So they can store vegetables, food containers, and fruits inside the fridge, as well as take all the utensils out. In fact, this sums up the experience. It's evident that the owner and his family live in this house, and scurry out of it, to live temporarily in a half constructed building on the same property whenever there are guests over. The problem with this is, that they take with them every single thing that they can, and you need to ask the owner to go fetch it for you whenever you want to get something done. Let me list the missing items
We booked and paid for two nights but decided to leave after just one night because of our experience. The bedrooms had spiders and cockroaches, and the overall cleanliness was disappointing. The owner’s mother lives in a separate house behind the property, but the kitchen was shared with her. The refrigerator was dirty and packed with her food containers, so it didn’t feel like a private guest kitchen. We were never given a key to the house. The owner told us that his mother would lock the house at night, but when we woke up the next morning, the front door had been left unlocked, which was concerning. The main rolling gate could only be opened by calling the owner, making it difficult to enter or leave the property independently. Another issue was privacy. While we were out for a short time, leaving our son at the house to rest, the owner invited several of his friends over, even though the property had been rented to us. As paying guests, we expected to have our privacy respected, but that was not the case. The house was also extremely hot. There was only a small ceiling fan and a small cooling fan provided, both of which were not effective at all, making it very uncomfortable to stay. Overall, this stay was very disappointing and did not match our expectations. We left a night early despite having paid for two nights. We were also left wondering whether we were treated differently because we were Sri Lankan locals rather than foreign tourists, although we have no way of knowing for sure
Nice place. Friendly staff. The bathroom is located separately from the room
It was a good place to stay. Clean & spacious. The owner was really good & helful
None. Facilities and clean
