The accommodation is fitted with a lot of love to detail. An old school building converted into a very cozy guesthouse. The winter garden links living space with a very large, fully equipped kitchen where everything you need is available. The hosts themselves are super friendly and open. A totally great stay, definitely recommendable.

We spent one night at Greg and Magnea’s house. We met Greg on the evening of our arrival, and he gave us a tour that made us feel at home. Their house is amazing: a beautiful kitchen, a very comfortable room with a private, clean, and pleasant bathroom, and an incredible veranda. It was just a shame we couldn’t stay longer at The Old School House!

Our hosts were absolutely delightful, and the property was stunning! The stay was incredibly cozy, and the house radiated warmth. The only regret was that we only stayed one night and couldn’t enjoy everything they offered. The property is a very short drive from everything you could need in Selfoss. It was very quiet, and the other house guests were also quiet and respectful. The kitchen is fully stocked, and our room was very comfortable.

The atmosphere and vibe of the place were probably the best we encountered during our visit to Iceland. The hosts were great! The garden was delightful! The ‘old-school’ concept of a hotel, where you’re invited by the owner and actually feel like a guest in their home, is a breath of fresh air compared to the routine overnight stays in generic hotels. Everything was great, really! Only a very minor point: the hallway light spills into the room at night – a bit annoying.
