The atmosphere was great and the land lady was extremely attentive, yet the food was very enjoyable.

Nestled in the South Downs National Park, Badgers Inn lies just five minutes from Petworth village. The restaurant showcases fresh local produce, featuring shellfish in summer and game in winter. The bar offers local wine and real ales amid deep‑red ceilings and wooden furnishings, while a lounge log‑fire invites relaxation.

The staff were so nice and helpful—Elouise in particular stood out—but our room had a handheld shower attached to the bath; I would have preferred a shower that could be hooked to a high fixture or a free‑standing shower cubicle.

The English country ambience was wonderful, and the breakfast was excellent.

The rooms are a good size, but the bathrooms are very dated, and it’s quite hard to find your way around inside the property.
