My stay in Anguiano felt like a chiaroscuro: the remote location is perfect for those seeking complete isolation in the mountains, but the road is full of tight turns and mobile coverage (Vodafone) is almost nonexistent, making it hard to reach the village and contact the hosts upon arrival. I had to rely on helpful locals to get through. The building has a natural charm, but essential services were lacking: no working Wi‑Fi, no basic toiletries (gel, shampoo), and the door locks sometimes malfunctioned. Because of the heat, fans were necessary, which made the absence of basic comforts more noticeable. My goal is to offer constructive feedback: the place has the right setting and tranquility for a peaceful retreat, but a small investment in connectivity (mandatory Wi‑Fi) and attention to everyday details would make it a much more sensible and enjoyable haven for guests.

The nearby villages of Viniegra de Arriba and Viniegra de Abajo are close, but the mountain road lacks coverage and there are no supermarkets to buy food. The host’s attitude was awful, with misinformation and a cramped shared‑space system that forced us to walk through other guests’ rooms to reach their bedrooms. Our rooms were located between the kitchen and living area, so we depended on other tenants’ sleep schedules to rest. There is no coverage or Wi‑Fi, so you must check maps beforehand or you’ll get lost and won’t know which routes to take because no information is provided. The host’s service was dreadful: first the arrival misinformation, then the key and lock system didn’t work well, giving very brief instructions and the locks were prone to opening and closing easily, risking you being locked out. To contact the host you had to ask a villager for their phone, and once you did, she said it was your responsibility to be informed, so I’m leaving this here to warn others. We even suspect that all the good reviews are bought or from friends, because three different groups stayed there in the same period and all felt disappointed.

The room offered great views, a very comfortable bed, a perfect shower, shared areas, easy key pickup, and a terrace that, being next to our room, felt exclusive to us; the isolation was good because I heard nothing from the street. The accommodation was perfect, especially room SOL. I would have appreciated a hand soap in the bathroom.

Dogs are allowed, and even though we didn’t have any, we really enjoyed sharing with other dogs. The shared kitchen and living room were good. Anguiano is all uphill, which is unavoidable. The hostel mattress could be improved.
