Umutuzo Lodge Kivu Lake

We had a wonderful family stay at Philippe’s Umutuzo Lodge Kivu Lake. My wife, our two sons Ilan (6) and Aaron (5 months), and I especially appreciated the warm welcome, the beautiful setting, and the peace of the place. Breakfast was perfect, varied, and generous, and the chef was always listening to our wishes and very accommodating for any extra requests. A baby crib would have been a nice addition, but we expected that and it didn’t diminish the quality of our stay at all. We’re leaving with very beautiful memories and highly recommend this address.

The reception was very friendly, thanks to Philippe and his team, and the 4,5 hours drive from Kigali is tough with all those hairpin bends, but the lakeside spot is stunning and the lodges themselves are top quality. The food menu could feel a bit narrow for a longer stay, and a bigger selection of snacks or bites during the day would be nice; the meals themselves are good, though some guests might wish for separate tables.
