“We had a great time.”
A lovely quiet setting in private gardens among similar properties, with a very kind and friendly host. The place was clean, tidy, and had everything needed for a pleasant stay whether dining out or self‑catering. We also enjoyed a superb meal in a local restaurant within a 10‑minute walk. On the first day we did a local Levada walk and stopped for tea and cakes at a well‑known tea‑room at the end. The location on the edge of the slightly cooler mountain range was appreciated, and we recommend hiring a car if staying. A little more living space would have been better for four adults, including a slightly larger kitchen area, but that’s a personal preference since we like cooking our own meals when possible due to one person being gluten‑free and another vegetarian. Overall the accommodation was good. There is no air conditioning, so you need to follow the hotter‑climate routine: let cool air in at night, then close shutters and windows before it warms to keep the house cool during the day. De‑humidifiers are available.
