The location was fabulous, and we loved the view from our room; the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was great, and the rooftop terrace was perfect for watching the sun set. There were plenty of places to eat and friendly pubs nearby, and we even spotted a seal in the harbor! We experienced Paignton by steam train and enjoyed a ferry trip—overall a great stay.

The room was good, with a comfy bed and nice bathroom, and it wasn’t noisy even though it’s above the pub. The bay window offered terrific views up the Dart toward town and sea; the view is excellent, right next to the higher ferry and slipways where a lot of activity happens, and the pub buzz adds to the vibe. A short walk brings you into town. The value for money is good. The Floating Bridge pub is pretty simple and honest as pubs go. Breakfast was provided in the room for the first night, which was basic but we weren’t expecting one at all; there are loads of options in town, a short walk away. Parking is hit and miss; there are three spaces outside but you’ll be lucky to get one; overnight parking on nearby roads was fine even in high season, close to the pub.
