“Two Night Stay For the First Day on The Wall.”
The reception, bar and waiting staff were all welcoming, and the food was well received, but the real highlight was the location near Hadrian’s Wall Path—just a 4‑minute walk downhill. The hotel sits atop a large fort and the area is decent; a pub is on the other side of the road if the hotel bar isn’t your thing, and a great tandoori is 100 m away, with a chip shop and a mini Sainsbury’s close by for supplies. After a grueling first day, a room with a bath was a major plus and the only relaxing soak I had on the trip. The buffet breakfast was pretty standard; the Cumbria breakfast was decent, and the packed lunch was okay but didn’t compare to the options at Sainsbury’s, where I later paid more for the same. The window in my ground‑floor room was more tired than I’d like.
