The room was clean and had nothing to complain about, but the location was terrible, with very few parking spaces and right next to the station.
“In die Jahre gekommenes Gasthaus.”
The hotel’s location is good, just 3 minutes to the Kirchzarten station, and the Konus card lets you ride the train (not ICE) for free up to Basel. However, calling it a hotel feels off; “Gasthof” would be more accurate. The building is old and the attempt to brighten it with white paint doesn’t help. In the bathroom there’s a bar of soap, and you can grab a hairdryer at reception. The breakfast is average, leaving us very disappointed.
Check‑in was smooth, with free parking right outside and the train less than 100 m away. The room was clean and bright, and the breakfast was basic standard. The staff were super friendly and helpful, but a noisy event in the restaurant meant loud outdoor activity, so anyone sensitive to sound won’t sleep well. There’s no soundproofing, and the door locks look like they’re from around 1900, not modern.
“Estupendo hotel clásico alemán”
This classic hotel keeps its original charm and offers a Konus card for free public transport, plus a breakfast buffet that’s still available today; it’s literally a 2‑minute walk to the train, though a bit of renovation would be nice while preserving its classic vibe.
Noise from the nearby road and especially the station makes it hard to sleep.
