A clean and nice place.
Checking in proved tricky at first, but once I got the hang of the system it worked fine. Getting in touch with any staff member was hard.
The place is spotless, and even though the train ride is only a short distance away it stays quiet. The electronic system for opening the main entrance and the room is amazing, and you really need the app.
I normally stay in chain hotels. However, because of the high demand, there were not many hotels available within my budget, and Karivollen was one of the options I found. If you have a car, the location is not a problem at all. It is easy to reach. The room, bed and bathroom were clean. The bathroom was not Hilton standard, of course, but it was more than good enough. Surprisingly, the bed was very comfortable, and the pillow was also good, at least for me. Hotel duvets are often too warm, but this one was very comfortable. There is no physical key or reception. You receive a digital key, which was easy to use. They also have parking and the possibility to charge an electric car, which is very useful in Norway. Finally, they have an open kitchen where you can prepare your own food and breakfast. They have all the necessary equipment, and they also have good coffee, which I really liked. Do not set your expectations too high, but for Scandinavian standards, I do not think you will be disappointed
I can’t really comment because we never managed to sleep there – the door to room 219 wouldn’t open, so after a ten‑hour drive we had to spend the night in my little Toyota Auris.
