“Wonderful traditional hotel”

The Globe team were fantastic from the moment we arrived. My partner was delayed, yet they shifted our dinner reservation without any hassle. Breakfast quality was better than usual, featuring items like smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The room above the bar was nicely traditional, fitting the area. Amenities such as a coffee machine and shower gels were high‑quality, making the stay feel like a treat. The hotel sits on the main street, so many spots are nearby, and the estuary is also close. Even though the area is a busy pub, the room stayed quiet. However, a few basic maintenance issues were still present: the toilet had been replaced but the paint behind it was unfinished, leaving a large unpainted square above the cistern, and the net curtains were torn. For the price we paid, I expected these simple fixes to be handled.

“A comfortable cosy country style inn. Reasonable value considering the substantial breakfast”

The property had a traditional feel and offered a great full breakfast selection. There were no major negatives, though the breakfast staff could have been a bit more attentive and available to explain what was included.

The room came with a fan, which was a bonus on one of the hottest days. I asked for mushrooms and tomatoes at breakfast, but only received one tomato and no whole mushroom, which was ridiculous even though it was included in the room price.

The evening meal had a good selection. Nothing else to note.
